Indigenous Women Breaking Academic Barriers

Elizabeth Esteban, daughter of two Mexican immigrants from central Michoacan, was recently admitted to Harvard, one of the most prestigious universities in the world; breaking barriers for her indigenous Purepecha tribe.
For Elizabeth, the thought of attending Harvard seemed out of reach because of her upbringing and the minimal resources available to her. To add to her doubts, Esteban faced trouble during her interview with the school administration, making her reconsider the thought of applying to Harvard. However, despite the unforeseen inconveniences she faced, Elizabeth received a full ride scholarship to attend Harvard University where she plans to study political science.
Naturally, Esteban is proud that all of her hard work has finally paid off and hopes that her plans of running for Congress can lead her to opportunities where she can make a difference in her community and beyond.
