I’m Georgina’, Ronaldo’s Girlfriend’s Netflix Show | Opinion

Some people need to work really hard to have a dream life; others get very lucky. And that is what happened to the Argentinian/Spanish aspiring model, Georgina Rodriguez; she was at the right place, at the right time, and she went “from selling bags, to collecting them” as the logline reads.

I am Georgina is a Netflix reality series centered around the woman who conquered the most followed person on earth, Cristiano Ronaldo. By association, Georgina basically became an overnight sensation. The reality series is an attempt to capture who this woman is and what her daily life looks like. After the first few episodes, I got a clear idea that this was not about Georgina’s past life, but a scripted glimpse of her luscious lifestyle — starting with her going to Paris on a private jet to try on a dress that Naomi Campbell wore and coming back the same day because she doesn’t like to leave the kids out for too long (I can’t imagine how mad Greta is for all that waste of gas into the environment). It ends with her wanting to renovate one of her many houses and sell the furniture for $10,000 a piece (like if she needed the money).

Before the show came out all things hinted that, contrary to Matt Damon’s wife, Luciana Barroso, who always liked her private life to be private and even told Deadline that “the media gave up on me because I was so boring,” Georgina is a “viva la vida” who enjoys the spotlight as much as kids enjoy candy. But I tried my best to give her the benefit of the doubt because she didn’t have an easy upbringing; her father was a narco who went to jail when she was just a little girl and grew up with her mother and sister as her only family. Unfortunately the reality doesn’t focus on humanizing her in any way. It does quite the opposite. She is portrayed as an opportunistic narcissist whose only merit in life is to be someone’s famous girl.

However, the reality show is one of the most watched series on Netflix. Seems people are genuinely curious to know who Georgina is… or maybe they just want a peek into their favorite icon’s life, Ronaldo. So if you are into soccer and are not a Barca fan, it might be something up your alley. If not, I’d say read one of these amazing books instead!
