Body Positivity in Fashion and Afro-Mexican Beats in an All-New Shades of Beauty

Body Positivity in Fashion and Afro-Mexican Beats in an All-New Shades of Beauty

On a whole new episode of Shades of Beauty, our hosts Yoe and Simone discuss all things swimwear. Also, don’t miss out on a set visit from LA-based designer BAMI, as well as a conversation with Afro-Mexican artist, ImmaSoul.

During the breakdown on all things Swimwear, Yoe and Simone shared how things fit (or don’t fit) body positivity, sustainability, and even some funny mishaps they’ve had along the way.

“It’s interesting to see the evolution of swimsuits because, in the 50s, they were singed, sculpted, to give more shape. But not we’re going back to more high-waisted monokinis, thing that are cutting, giving shape. I think at this point, what fits a person matters,” says Simone. “There are more varieties for different body types.”

Also BAMI, a designer who takes a scientific approach to color, material and design stopped by to share lots of gems about his journey. He shares the special moment he knew design was something more than just a hobby.

And last but not least, we hear from our girl Nadia Brooks, host of our sister show Blacktinidad, who sat down with Afro-Mexican singer ImmaSoul to chat about her groundbreaking sound, her artistic process, and much more.

Stay tuned for our new episodes of Shades of Beauty Fridays only on LATV!
