Eve Flores Shares Her experience With The Spiritual Side Of Creativity

In the latest episode of Checkitow from LatiNation, Humberto Guida welcomed the incredibly talented Giulia Eve Flores to talk about creativity, spirituality, and the beauty of the human experience.
Giulia is a Bolivian-Dutch actress, writer, producer, director, speaker, workshop facilitator, and founder of a nonprofit. Born in New York City, raised in Amsterdam, and trained in London, Giulia’s work is enriched by her diverse and multifaceted background. What makes her story even more compelling is the way she integrates spirituality and consciousness into her creative process.

Giulia’s passion for storytelling started early. By the age of nine, she was writing, producing, directing, and performing her own public mini-shows in Amsterdam, all while speaking in her third language—English. Her love for theater continued to grow as she trained and performed with the National Youth Theatre of Amsterdam. At just 17, she won first prize in the National Youth Theatre Contest for a thought-provoking piece she wrote, directed, and performed. This early success was just the beginning of her remarkable career.
At 18, Giulia moved to London to pursue formal training in acting, filmmaking, writing, and directing. She studied at prestigious institutions such as the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama, and the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain, among others. During her time in London, she co-produced, co-wrote, and performed in several short films, and directed multiple original theatre productions, earning four-star reviews at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

But it was at 19 that Giulia experienced a profound shift in her life, thanks to a mystical encounter with ayahuasca, a traditional plant-based medicine used by indigenous peoples in the Amazon region. This experience transformed her deeply, setting her on a new path of self-realization.
During the episode, she recalled, “I remember when I came back from the ayahuasca experience, I literally felt the density coming in. And suddenly I felt very potentized to sadness and grief like there are such a wide variety of experiences… maybe it’s because I’m such an intense person. Like I am in for that, I want to feel the depth of the human experience. I’m not saying I want pretty intense negative experiences, I’m not seeking that. But there is so much beauty in pain, even. I love being human, I think it’s worthwhile.”
Giulia’s deep connection to her Bolivian roots and her family’s heritage also plays a significant role in her spiritual journey. She talks about how her family, particularly the older generations, are slowly beginning to become more open minded towards ancient spiritual practices like ayahuasca, which have long been part of indigenous cultures in the Amazon.
“A lot of my Bolivian family, they’re intrigued. Because it’s so incorporative of their ancient cultures and their practices from their regions and areas and countries, yet they are not familiar with it. You got ayahuasca coming straight from the Amazon and a lot of indigenous practices in that area, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, and Brazil. So they are opening their minds to it because there is a cultural tie, but it’s not familiar in their culture. Because they’ve been so in the modern culture. I’ve noticed with my grandma, my abuelita, whom I lived with in New York, and she is in her mid to late 80s now, and she is very spiritual and open, even though her house is full of Jesus. So it is opening doors to the slightly older generation.”
This fusion of spirituality, culture, and creativity is at the heart of Giulia’s work. After returning to the US, she founded the Conscious Performers Collective, a nonprofit theater company that created original theatrical pieces and conducted transformational workshops in New York City, Philadelphia, and New Jersey.

But her love for cinema eventually drew her back to filmmaking, leading her to write her first screenplay, Becoming the One. The screenplay has already gained significant recognition, winning multiple accolades at prestigious competitions like the Austin Film Festival and the Screencraft Feature Competition. She’s now working on securing funding for the film, with Emmy-nominated producer Barnet Bain attached as director.
Beyond her personal projects, Giulia continues to work as an Associate Producer of Original Content at Gaia, a popular streaming platform focused on consciousness and wellness, where she writes, produces, and serves as an MC for live events, while also lending her voice and on-screen talent to various series and social media content. She’s also busy developing her second narrative feature screenplay, infusing her passion for storytelling and spirituality into new creative projects.
