Drag Latina’ Winner Vicky Chavarria is Ready for Season 2

Drag Latina Season 2 has arrived, and you won’t want to miss it.

Co-produced by LATV and Revry, the show highlights a new group of queens who bring it with all the drama, attitude, and cultural pride we’ve been waiting for.

“I’m very anxious to see the new talents this season!,” says Vicky Chavarria, the queen who took home the Drag Latina crown last season.

We got to know Chavarria better during an exclusive televised interview with LATV.

Originally from Guatemala, Chavarria knew she was different from her brothers as early as five years old. She came into her queer identity fluidly and, fortunately, without many social repercussions from her family. In truth, making her parents proud has partly fueled her artistic ambition.

When she moved to the United States, she trained as a dancer. Eventually, her fellow dancers convinced her to attempt the art of drag.

One look in the mirror and Chavarria was in love.

“I always loved the attention of the stage and the cameras,” she says. “Even more, I love putting smiles on people’s faces.”

Working in entertainment changed her life. Whether she’s doing drag or performing transformísmo, she commits to the process completely—doing her make-up, choosing her outfit, making her entrance in front of an audience. Her personas embody elegance, mystery, and creativity.

Chavarria’s time on Drag Latina was never dull. They filmed the whole season in one week. That meant long hours, close quarters, and—to be expected—some strong language between queens. But the experience left a mark on her heart.

“In reality, the show was a really positive experience,” she goes on to say. “I was so happy that it opened doors to the Latina community, the undocumented community, and the whole world. I believe Drag Latina is for the whole world.”
