In this episode, Craig talks about his recent rise in stand-up comedy, his viral videos, and what it’s like growing up in a half-Mexican, half-white family.
He shared some insights about his grandparents who immigrated from Mexico in the 1940s, mentioning how they had to adapt to a different culture and place:
“When my grandparents came here from Mexico, it was very racist so they tried to hide. You hide it. You’re white. They were proud to be Mexican, but it was just a different time. They came like in the forties. And yeah, we got whitewashed. My grandparents were from Chihuahua and Mexico City, and my mom was born here, first-generation American, and I’m second-generation. But I look like a pinche gringo.”
Craig also shared some laughs about the differences between his Mexican and white sides of the family:
“I make fun of it and I hate it because it is almost this stereotypical shi*. But my white side, golf scholarships, and my Mexican side, we got like seven gangsters from LA. Not all, there’s everything. They are teardrop gangsters. I was the funny cousin, it’s in my act, it’s true stuff. They think I’m crazy because I do stand up and I’m like ‘fool, you get into shootouts’.”
