Comic-Con 2020 Has Been Canceled

No…NO! Gawd, no. Tears are running down my once-cherubic cheeks and falling all over my to-do list, which is written in pen on a post-it note – and now it’s ruined. But the reason I cry is real and true – and it hurts!
San Diego Comic-Con 2020 is canceled. The coronavirus pandemic continues to reshape how the world views large public gatherings; and to me, this is a big hit. The annual entertainment and comic book convention was scheduled to take place from July 23-26 in San Diego, California. And for the 8th year in a row, I was set to attend.
Every year brought its own (mis)adventure. Sometimes I dressed up in a shamble of a costume, other times I just let the serious cosplayers do their thing. Oh, how I will miss it. I will miss the hundred thousand-strong crowd piling into the streets of the Gaslamp District, LARPers congregating near the the entrance of the convention center, and the 100-degree mid-summer heat creating a mist of funk, as so many of these people wear their hot, heavy, and insulating costumes several days in a row.
