Chiquis Talks Grammy Awards Nomination for Best Música Mexicana Album

Chiquis Rivera is ecstatic about her recent Grammy nomination and we’re here to celebrate with her!

The Mexican-American singer has earned a Grammy nomination for her album, Diamantes. Chiquis is proud to represent the Regional Mexican music genre as a woman in a male-dominated field. She’s nominated for this category alongside fellow Latine artists Jesse Uribe and Carin León. But as Latin music reaches new heights, as you flip through the global charts it’s worth mentioning other Latine artists like Young Miko, Anitta, Shakira, Peso Pluma and more have obtained Grammy Award nominations.

During an Instagram live, she shared her excitement and gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing how much it means to be acknowledged for her dedication on making her art. Overcome with emotion, she shared how grateful and happy she feels, even shedding tears of joy earlier in the day.

I’m very happy, I’m very grateful, and it’s not just a nomination for me or something I could win, an important award that, you know, I could say, “I won it,” because it’s not just me, it’s a team that believes in the vision, that believes in the project. And that means so much to me.

With a strong vision and passion for her craft, the late Jenni Rivera’s daughter keeps breaking new ground and making a real impact.

She took to her live broadcast to thank everyone who has supported her, from fans who attend her live shows to those who have believed in her from the start—and those joining the journey along the way.

For Chiquis, the Grammy nomination isn’t just about the potential to win an award. It’s a recognition of a team effort, one that goes beyond her personal success.

“It’s not just me; it’s a team that believes in the vision, that believes in the project,” she explained.

The nomination is a testament to everyone who has been part of her journey, and she finds great meaning in being part of a collective effort that’s bigger than herself. “All awards are important, and it feels nice to be considered,” she said, expressing her gratitude for the recognition while staying humble about the honor.

When discussing what the Grammy nomination means to her, Chiquis shared her love for the entire creative process that goes into making an album. “The Grammy, to me, it’s like OMG,” she said. She explained that the recognition comes after a lot of hard work, from writing and recording the music to taking photos and putting together every aspect of the project. For her, it’s about creating something complete—something that resonates from beginning to end. “The Grammys check everything: the production, the sound, the music,” she noted, highlighting the rigorous standards of the awards. “It’s no joke. They study this stuff.”

During the live session, fans asked about a potential collaboration with Latin music sensation Natti Natasha. Chiquis didn’t shy away from the possibility, fueling excitement for future projects.

As a final message to her supporters, Chiquis shared heartfelt advice: “Don’t give up on your dreams. When you feel like everything is falling down and falling apart, it’s because something great is coming. And God never makes mistakes.” She stressed the importance of staying true to oneself and working hard without stepping on others. “What’s yours, no one can take it away from you,” she reminded them, urging her fans to focus on their own path and ignore the negativity.

Chiquis will close out the year in style as her tour winds down with three more dates in California starting in December.
