What’s “Foodie on the Go” About?

In this 30-minute docu-series, Chiquis embarks on a culinary adventure across the U.S., visiting some of the most unique and culturally significant restaurants. She gets hands-on in the kitchen, chats with chefs, and learns the personal stories behind the dishes. From five-star restaurants to food trucks and hidden gems, the show explores how food connects people, communities, and traditions.

But this isn’t just a food show. It’s also a celebration of small business owners, many of whom have their own immigrant stories. Chiquis highlights their perseverance, creativity, and the love they pour into every meal.

The first episode kicks off in Chicago, where she visits Volare, a family-owned Italian restaurant that has been serving the community for nearly three decades. Guided by Chef Massimo, Chiquis rolls up her sleeves to prepare two classic dishes: squid ink risotto with seafood and a decadent tiramisu. With Chicago’s rich Italian-American heritage, Volare is more than just a restaurant, it’s a piece of history, and Chiquis is here to soak it all in.

In the second episode, Chiquis heads to Solvang, California, a charming Danish-inspired town, to explore Peasants Feast, a local favorite that opened during the pandemic. Chef Michael Cherney and his wife, Sarah, took a risk launching their restaurant in uncertain times, but their passion for food and community paid off. Together, Chiquis and Michael prepare the Copenhagen Caesar Salad and the Solvang Hot Chicken Sandwich, highlighting the town’s unique mix of influences.

And that’s just the beginning! Upcoming episodes will take her to iconic spots like Mex Peru Gipsy and Yang Chow in Los Angeles, Miami’s legendary Versailles, and more must-visit restaurants across the country.

For Chiquis, food has always been about more than just eating, it’s about stories, culture and connection. Whenever she travels, one of the first things she does is find the best local restaurants and learn about the people behind them.

“When I travel, one of the first things I do is find the best local restaurants and learn their story. I get inspired by food – who is creating it, the ingredients, the aromas, the brilliant mistakes that make a great dish,” Chiquis says.

She wanted to create a show that celebrates the hardworking chefs and small business owners who pour their hearts into their food. Many of them have stories of resilience, sacrifice, and dedication, and Chiquis is determined to give them the recognition they deserve.

Meet Chiquis

If you don’t already know Chiquis, let’s break it down. She’s a three-time Latin GRAMMY winner and 2025 GRAMMY nominee, an entrepreneur, author, and media personality and, of course, the eldest daughter of the iconic Jenni Rivera.

Her journey in entertainment began with reality TV, starring in “I Love Jenni” and her own spin-off “Chiquis & Raq-C.” But she quickly made a name for herself in music, releasing her debut album “Ahora” in 2015. In 2024, she dropped her fifth studio album, “Diamantes,” earning another Latin GRAMMY and a GRAMMY nomination for Best Música Mexicana Album.

Beyond music, Chiquis has built an empire. She runs Busy Bee Productions, a company dedicated to creating diverse and impactful content. Their first project, “Chiquis Sin Filtro,” became VIX’s #1-rated show in the U.S. Now, with “Foodie on the Go,” she’s bringing her storytelling skills to the world of food.
