Celebrities Step Up to Support Hurricanes Helene and Milton Relief

Hurricane Milton recently devastated west central Florida, resulting in at least 17 deaths, many still missing, and millions of people without power. The state is still grappling with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which, as a Category 4 storm, caused immense damage and loss of life in both Florida and other regions.

As recovery efforts continue, a multitude of celebrities have pitched in to help communities get back on their feet, whether through massive donations or canceling shows.

Peso Pluma cancels shows and gives to relief efforts

Peso Pluma, the Mexican artist known for his “EXODO TOUR,” has decided to cancel his upcoming shows in Tampa and Miami. He and his team, Double P Records, along with his management group, Prajin Parlay Inc., have contributed funds to local organizations supporting hurricane relief. They’re hoping this will provide some immediate aid to those who are struggling after the storms. Peso Pluma’s team reassured fans that anyone who bought tickets through Ticketmaster would be automatically refunded, while those who used other platforms should check in with their original ticket source.

Taylor Swift’s big donation

Taylor Swift made headlines again, but this time, it’s for donating a whopping $5 million to Feeding America. As the hurricanes approached, Swift stepped up, helping provide essential resources like food, clean water, and supplies. The organization’s CEO, Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, expressed her gratitude, noting how impactful this contribution would be for people trying to rebuild their lives: “Together, we can make a real impact in supporting families as they navigate the challenges ahead. Thank you, Taylor, for standing with us in the movement to end hunger and for helping communities in need.”

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds step in

Taylor Swift’s friends, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, also joined the efforts, separately donating $1 million to Feeding America. Babineaux-Fontenot highlighted their consistent support over the years, mentioning how their contributions have made a big difference, especially in times of crisis. “These funds will help food banks provide basic needs like water, ready-to-eat food, and supplies to communities facing heartbreaking loss and a long recovery,” she expressed.

Tom Brady encourages support

Former NFL quarterback Tom Brady also made a difference by donating $100,000 to support relief efforts. His contribution was matched by the delivery company, Give with Gopuff. Brady shared a message online, urging people to keep helping however they can. “Keep those impacted by these storms in your prayers, look out for your neighbors, and continue to help out any way you’re able. Stay safe and stay strong, Florida,” he said, emphasizing the need for communities to come together.

Dolly Parton shows support for Appalachia

Dolly Parton, a legend in her own right, donated $1 million through her Dollywood Foundation to support Mountain Ways, an organization that is aiding parts of East Tennessee, Western North Carolina, and the Appalachian region. Parton expressed her deepest sympathy for those affected, mentioning that many of her own family members live in the region: “When we heard about this it was devastating, not just because it was my family, because all these people feel like my people. We all feel related, and we are in some sort of way. So it just devastated me just to know that we had to suffer like that. You’re never prepared, you just try to step up. God has been good to me, and so has the public, and I feel like if there’s anything I can do to give back in any way I can I’m always willing to do that.”

Metallica’s relief efforts

The heavy metal band Metallica also got involved, with their non-profit, All Within My Hands Foundation, collectively donating $50,000 to both the World Central Kitchen and Team Rubicon. World Central Kitchen is known for providing food in emergency situations, while Team Rubicon is a veteran-led group focused on humanitarian aid. In their announcement, Metallica encouraged others to join the efforts and make donations if they can.
