Canelo wins by TKO! in Canelo v Saunders Fight

Did Canelo win? Yes! In the 8th round, the fight was over by TKO. Canelo v Saunders result is in. It did not end as dramatically and amazing as we wanted. In the end Billy Joe Saunder’s eye was too injured for the fight to continue. Saunder’s corner threw in the towel worried about the health of the boxer, but he showed a very very impressive fight. Saunders stuck to his southpaw gameplan, but Canelo did what he does best, wait, watch and counter with power.

Canelo said he knew he “broke” Saunder’s cheek.

Everything is bigger in Texas for the Canelo vs Saunders fight with the crowd size over 70,000 and the ring size even a little bigger. In a pre-fight interview, Canelo told DAZN Boxing that “There’s hard fights and there’s difficult fights and this one is a difficult fight” because of Saunders fighting style and mobility. 

Canelo Alvarez had just pummelled Avni Yildrim in February and he looked absolutely lethal going into tonight’s fight. Saunders came in at (30-0, 14 KO)’s which is makes the odds going into the fight so heavily against him seem a little overkill. 

Billy Joe Saunders is a two-division world champion, but all the odds had him as the major underdog. Much has been made about the size of the ring being made bigger by Saunder’s request… but the fight was in Texas and we all know how the saying goes “ everything is bigger in Texas.
