Café Tacvba, often hailed as the flag bearers of the “Rock en Español” movement, emerged as a musical force during the early ’90s. Formed after a fateful meeting in college, the Grammy-winning quartet from Mexico City quickly gained recognition and went on to become one of the most influential bands in Latin music history. Their unique fusion of rock, folk, and traditional Mexican sounds has resonated with fans worldwide, inspiring multiple generations of musicians.

Producing a string of acclaimed studio albums, Café Tacvba has consistently collaborated with renowned producer Gustavo Santaolalla. However, their 2003 release, “Cuatro Caminos,” broke the pattern as it was co-produced by Santaolalla, Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, Weezer), and Andrew Weiss (When). This album not only soared on various Top Album charts but also secured the prestigious 2004 Grammy Award for Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album.

In 2017, Café Tacvba unveiled “Jei Beibi,” an album that further cemented their status as trailblazers. Its innovative and daring approach earned them the Latin Grammy for Best Alternative Album, a testament to their continued evolution and artistic prowess.

Most recently, Café Tacvba made history with “Un Segundo MTV Unplugged,” becoming the first band to record a second MTV Unplugged album. This milestone project allowed them to reimagine their beloved songs alongside a full orchestra, resulting in breathtaking new renditions that showcase their versatility and musical genius.
