Bernie Sanders Breaks the Internet…Again
Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders breaks the internet once more, and we’re all here for it. It is safe to say that Wednesday morning was a memorable day for many – Amanda Gorman became the youngest known inaugural poet, Jennifer Lopez addressed the nation in Spanish during her performance, Lady Gaga sang the National Anthem and of course, Joe Biden was sworn in as the 46th president of the United States – but even with all that, Bernie Sanders stole the show.
Since Wednesday, Bernie Sanders has been the center of attention after he was spotted in the crowd bundled up with his legs and arms crossed wearing a grey windbreaker, cozy mittens, and of course, a face mask. Bernie’s image has been shared widely on social media photoshopped into a variety of backgrounds, including: movie stills, album covers, famous landmarks and he can also be seen outside your place using this app. Just put Bernie in a picture!
Bernie Sanders has made an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers and reacted to his photograph becoming a viral meme. He mentioned he had no idea the photo was being taken and that he was “just sitting there trying to pay attention to what was going on.” He admitted to seeing the images and gave credit to Jen Ellis, the school teacher from Vermont, who knitted the mittens for him. And just in case you were interested in getting your hands on a pair, Jen Ellis has informed her fans via Twitter that she has “… no more mittens for sale…” – BUMMER!
The best thing to come out of all this is Bernie’s merch. That’s right!! Bernie has wasted no time in turning his famous inauguration meme into a sweatshirt to raise funds for charity. 100% of proceeds will go to Meals on Wheels Vermont, an organization that serves Vermont citizens under the age of 60 who suffer from chronic or disabilities and gives them at least one hot meal five days a week. Unfortunately, the sweatshirts have already sold out. Hopefully there will be a second drop coming soon!!!
