A Full Recap of Bad Bunny’s Big Night on SNL

Saturday Night Live wrapped up its 50th season the only way it could: loud, wild, and with Bad Bunny. The Puerto Rican superstar returned to the show this weekend as the musical guest, but once again proved he’s not just about the music. Just like in 2023, he jumped into several comedy sketches in the episode hosted by Scarlett Johansson.

But the moment that got everyone talking was definitely that steamy live performance of ‘PERFuMITO NUEVO’ with RaiNao. The two recreated a bathroom scene straight out of a bar. Low lights, mirror, drinks, tension, and by the end of the song, they’re in a bathroom stall together, door closed, leaving the rest to imagination. The chemistry, the staging, the vocals, it was one of those rare late-night TV performances that instantly takes over the internet.

Bad Bunny also performed “NUEVAYoL,” one of the standout tracks from “Debí tirar más fotos.” He and his band were dressed like the construction workers who built the Empire State Building, perched on a steel beam, giving off serious old New York vibes while singing about the city from a Caribbean perspective.

But Benito didn’t just stay on stage. He dove headfirst into the world of sketch comedy again. In one sketch, he played an overwhelmed air traffic controller trying to guide a plane through turbulence. Scarlett Johansson, the night’s host, joined him as part of the scene. He even sang, in English, while trying to calm down the crew, playing the confused employee who somehow keeps it all together.

Next up was Couples at the Bar, definitely one of the night’s funniest skits. Bad Bunny and Johansson played a couple who stroll into a bar only to find ‘their’ table taken by another couple. The tension ramps up. Spanish bursts out. Suddenly, Benito and Marcello Hernández are rattling off in rapid Spanish while their partners look puzzled. They end up playfully roasting their girlfriends in Spanish, sharing laughs, and bonding over how ‘crazy’ their dates are, all while keeping up the pretense of being upset. The mix of Puerto Rican slang with that classic New York bar vibe was spot on.

This wasn’t Benito’s first time stealing the spotlight on SNL. Back in October 2023, he took on the challenge of being both the host and the musical guest. But being part of the season finale this time around gave the night some extra significance. His presence was more than just a brief appearance, he was part of wrapping up a big chapter for the iconic show.

And let’s not overlook the timing of this appearance is big for Bad Bunny. His album Debí tirar más fotos is still topping the charts, and he’s getting ready for a huge concert residency in Puerto Rico this summer. With 30 shows lined up between July and September, it’s expected to bring tens of thousands of fans to the island. Plus, he is about to embark in a whole world wide tour. In short, Benito’s still going full speed ahead. From acting to skits, stadium shows, and bathroom-stall ballads, he’s definitely keeping us on our toes with new surprises.
