Bad Bunny Just Entered His Comedy Era in Happy Gilmore 2

It’s official: Bad Bunny has gone full comedy.

Almost three decades after the original, Happy Gilmore 2 is finally here, and the reviews are already rolling in. The movie, which dropped on Netflix this week, reunites Adam Sandler with some of the original cast, while introducing a long list of celebrity cameos, none more buzzed-about than Bad Bunny.

Set years after Happy’s explosive rise in the golf world, the sequel follows Happy Gilmore (Sandler) as he gets back on the golf course to help pay for his daughter Vienna’s ballet school tuition. He’s older, grumpier, and hilariously out of practice. But the movie mixes its sports comedy core with tons of nostalgia, and a whole lot of chaos.

Returning cast members include Julie Bowen, Ben Stiller, and Christopher McDonald, while cameos like Benny Safdie (as villain Frank Manatee), Margaret Qualley, Travis Kelce, Eminem, Post Malone and Kid Cudi bring a modern twist.

Enter: Bad Bunny. The Puerto Rican superstar plays Happy’s new caddie and he’s not just there for decoration. With impeccable comedic timing, hilarious facial expressions, and a deadpan delivery that hits harder because you don’t expect it, Bad Bunny immediately became one of the movie’s standout performers. Fans have been quick to flood social media with reactions that are overwhelmingly positive:

“I need all Bad Bunny fans to watch Happy Gilmore 2. He was so hilarious!”

“God Kelce and Bad Bunny were hilarious on Happy Gilmore 2. I almost died laughing,”

“Watched Happy Gilmore 2. It was super funny, loved Bad Bunny, he’s got such good comic timing,”

“I don’t know whose idea it was to cast Bad Bunny in the new Happy Gilmore movie, but you’re a genius,”

“Bad Bunny in Happy Gilmore was soooo perfect, his performance was outstanding!”

“Bad Bunny is simply electric in Happy Gilmore 2,”

“Bad Bunny stole the show!” and

“Happy Gilmore 2 has like 10,000 cameos and Bad Bunny’s comedic skills totally outshone them all” were some of the messages seen on X.

His performance even surprised some viewers who weren’t expecting him to hold his own alongside Sandler. Instead, he became a fan favorite, with many calling his scenes the highlight of the movie.

For Bad Bunny, this role isn’t just a cameo: it’s a full-circle moment. He and Adam Sandler met courtside at a Lakers game, where Sandler’s daughter recognized the artist and pointed him out. The two exchanged looks from across the court and eventually connected. Bad Bunny later shared that he was so emotional during the interaction that he had to hold back tears. “I thought: ‘Brother!’ I cried,” he said. “I had waited for that moment. I’d been to so many Lakers games hoping to see him.”

His enthusiasm translated straight into the movie. As Happy’s caddie, he steals scenes with a mix of charisma, chaos, and that signature Benito energy. Whether he’s arguing with golfers, misreading instructions, or dancing mid-fairway, he brings fresh life to a franchise that could’ve easily leaned too far into nostalgia.

Happy Gilmore 2 may have been packed with A-list cameos (Eminem as a heckler, Post Malone as a golf commentator, Travis Kelce as a server) but the internet seems to agree on one thing: Bad Bunny came to play. And he might’ve just opened a new chapter in his already genre-defying career.

Stream Happy Gilmore 2 now on Netflix and prepare to laugh every time Benito hits the screen.
