Is Andy Ruiz Jr in the Best Fighting Shape of His Life?

The next Andy Ruiz Jr (31) fight is May 1st against Chris Arreola a 40-year old on Fox Sports Pay-per-view. While critics including Dillan Whyte have accused Ruiz Jr of choosing Arreloa as his opponent to get an easy win and look good, Andy’s weightloss and swoll-as f body says otherwise. He might be in the best shape of his life and ready to take the spotlight back from Teofimo Lopez.

“I’m going to be a sober man, I’m going to be a champion inside of the ring and most importantly, a champion outside of the ring”

While promoting the Ruiz Arreola fight for Fox SPort, Andy “Destroyer” Ruiz Jr talked about the full glow up / grow up moment shifting away from partying and feasting, and into beast-mode. His last weigh in for the match against Anthony Joshua in 2019 had him weighing 283 ⅓ pounds and he’s expecting to cut that down to a lean and beefy 250 to 255 pounds by May 1st to begin his road to redemption.

In the video shared on Fox Sports Premier Boxing Channel twitter, the Mexican champ talks about the shift he’s been going through.

“ I’ve learned how to discipline myself and not go crazy. I don’t try to overeat like I used to. No Snickers, no sweets, no cakes even though I love them so much. On the weekend, I have a cheat meal. I used to have a cheat day. So the whole day I would be eating and eating.” – Andy Ruiz Jr.

Most importantly he’s not just looking for redemption inside the ring, but he’s looking to be a better version of himself all around.

“I’m going to be a sober man, I’m going to be a champion inside of the ring and most importantly, a champion outside of the ring”

Let’s do this for the culture Andy!
