Ahsoka Cast brings Rosario Dawson’s Latina Flavor to Star Wars

The sheer excitement of Star Wars fans can only be anticipated after the world came to know about Rosario Dawson being cast in The Mandalorian season II as Ahsoka Tano. Now there’s breaking news that Rosario will star as Ahsoka as she hunts down Thraen. Though we’re excited about the new series, it appears we won’t see it until sometime in 2023. What was exciting about the incident is that fan casting became a reality even though the popular Star Wars character was brought to life for the first time. Ahsoka Tano debuted as an apprentice Jedi of Anakin Skywalker in “The Clone Wars” and quickly became the favorite character in the whole series.

How it started

For Rosario Dawson, the Ahsoka cast was nothing but a definite “Force at Work” as she described to StarWars.com. And, she was right about her being cast as Star Wars Ahsoka. It all goes back to February 2017 when things were brewing up. It was a Star Wars fan that tweeted Rosario Dawson.

And, asked her whether she would love to play the lead character and fan-favorite Jedi, At that point, Jedi was the character that people saw in the animated Star Wars series “The Clone Wars” and “The Rebels.” To everyone’s surprise, Dawson made an affirmative reply to the tweet and that was how the seed was sown.

Rosario Dawson responded emphatically by replying “Ummm…yes please?!” and with hashtags #starwars, #ahsokatano, and #ahsokalives. It was the internet that noticed everything and caused a stir among the fans about the possibilities of Ahsoka making a real-life appearance.

With Mandalorian Season II, Rosario Dawson makes an amazing transformation into Ahsoka

It was in the earlier days of January this year that Rosario Dawson shared some of the behind-the-scenes of the series Mandalorian Season II. The video footages revealed everything about Rosario Dawson Ahsoka and how she transformed into a very powerful Jedi from a normal old human.

Also, the footage was treated as Ahsoka Tano Day by the Star Wars fans because it was that day when this important and popular character was brought to life back from 2008. News about Ahsoka was even shared ahead of her making a debut in the animated series, “The Clone Wars.”

Dawson appeared for a single episode in Season II and formed a pivotal link between the Jedis of the future and the Jedis of the past with her key role as Ahsoka on Episode 5 called “The Jedi”. However, Dawson’s role on “The Mandalorian” was a small one, she managed to get hold of a lot of footage about the making team that was preparing her into Ahsoka Tano.

While Dawson shared the footage on her Instagram, it was fascinating and reveals how intense a certain process can be when Dawson was transformed into an otherworldly being. Ahsoka is another Star Wars show that will cast Dawson. And, it will be one of the two spinoff shows from “The Mandalorian.”

What is the role of Ahsoka in The Mandalorian?

The impact of Ahsoka in The Mandalorian Season II will depend on the size of the role being played. As it appears, Rosario Dawson is supposed to be in a guest role appearance and this is why she won’t take much screen time. Yet, she can be as important as anyone.

It will be of greatest help from her for the rest of the Star Wars journey. And, she was active throughout major era during this journey including “The Rise of Skywalker”. However, her voice cameo indicated that she died at a certain point before “The Rise of Skywalker” and that mush have happened after The Mandalorian Season II.

If her rendition in Mandalorian proves to be a success, it could lead her to have some bigger roles in the future. However, the existing characters are yet to be explored in detail, and unraveling a powerful character like Ahsoka can detract from other counterparts. Given her immense fan following, it is wise not to include Dawson in excess.

When it comes to popularity, there is no denying that because Ahsoka is at the top tier. Moreover, it is the fans who have brought her back to the front from time to time. And, in Mandalorian, it is no different either. It was the fans that have begged the character to become life-like from animation.

Hayden Christensen on returning to Ahsoka as Anakin Skywalker

While the Mandalorian has jump-started a few things in the right way, its success gave way to a few spinoffs and one of them is Ahsoka. It marks the return of Jedi played by Rosario Dawson. Although further details on the show are very few, it came to light that Hayden Christensen will be seen playing Anakin Skywalker for this new show.

Soon after the news spread like a wildfire, Dawson was quick to share an A+ reaction that got the fans excited and thrilled. Much to anyone’s dismay, Lucasfilm Productions deleted Dawson’s reaction on Instagram who reacted to the big news. However, things on the internet can be preserved and the same happened to this situation as well.

In the post, Dawson reacted with some sweet nods “Skyguy,…they know!! See you soon, Snips”. Now, fans are aware that ‘Skyguy’ is the nickname for Ahsoka Tano’s master and ‘Snips’ is the name that he gave her while he was taking her on as a padawan. The post made by Dawson means that she is ready to deal with the complicated relationship between two Jedis.

And, this new series might reveal that in many compelling ways. But it is still not clear how Anakin Skywalker has returned to the show. However, two ways can happen. One reason for his returning could be in the form of flashbacks where he will be seen training a young Tano during Clone Wars.

Another reason could be he returned as a Force Ghost who can commute with his apprentice even in the present day. Another casting rumor that has been floating around is Mena Massoud, the Aladdin star. Also, Lars Mikkelsen is reported to bring the animated role to real life as Grand Admiral Thrawn in the upcoming series.
