What Does The 4th of July Mean to You? These Shares Get REAL

While many of us are excited for the BBQ-and-fireworks that the 4th of July brings, our former Get it Girl, Denise Dorado, put her family’s history knowledge on the spot, by asking them: what are we actually celebrating? The freedom of America from who? What year was that? How many colonies were there at that time?

The 4th of July can be a controversial celebration too. Now that abortion rights have been reversed, many women are calling to sabotage the celebration, since in their view, this not a free country anymore. Many others like indigenous people or immigrants feel this celebration is not for them, and some environmentalists are worried about the potential hazards that all the fireworks can cause.
